1. Do I have to be an eLong member to book a hotel?
Absolutely not. Non-eLong members can skip the sign-in process for hotel booking transactions. However, we encourage frequent travelers to create an account. As an eLong member, you can enjoy exciting privileges like redeemable eLong points and receive the best deals through our email newsletter. Also, having your passenger information recorded in your eLong account will make future bookings faster and smoother.
2. How many days in advance do I need to make a booking?
We advise you to make your booking 2 weeks in advance. During peak seasons, booking 1 month ahead should be sufficient. Since the room rate changes constantly, bookings made too far in advance may not be confirmed.
3. Can I make a same-day booking?
Yes. In order to check in to a room today, the booking must be completed before 8 p.m. based on the local time of the city where you are interested in staying.
4. How many rooms can I book in one booking?
You can book up to five hotel rooms at one time. Remember that by selecting the maximum, you are limiting your search results. Please note that we cannot guarantee that all guests will stay in rooms next to or near each other. When a booking consists of multiple room reservations, they will all be held under the guest name indicated at the time of your booking. If you would like to have the additional room/s reserved under a name other than the one you originally indicated, please call eLong after booking (but before checking in) to change the name/s for the other rooms. Hotels will not allow guests to check in to a room unless it is either listed under the name of the individual indicated at the time of booking or the guest is accompanying that person at check-in.
1. Can I make a hotel booking for someone else?
Definitely. On the Guest Information page, you will need to enter a guest name for each room that you book. Upon check in, the guest will need to present a valid ID and credit card - both should match the name under which the room is reserved. Hotels might require a credit card authorization to guarantee payment of any incidental charges that you or your guest may incur during the stay. The amount of available credit needed will vary by hotel. Hotels would also normally allow cash deposits to secure any incidentals.
2. How do I take care of special requests (e.g. smoking/non-smoking, accessibility)?
Special requests can be submitted through the Special Request box on the Booking Information page. We will contact the hotel to confirm availability. Please note that your request is executed on a best-effort basis and is not guaranteed. Some special requests may also incur additional fees. Our partners will do their best to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
3. How can I pay for my bookings?
In most cases, no upfront payment is required to book a hotel with eLong. After your booking has been confirmed, you can pay the hotel directly upon check out. During peak season, festivals or large-scale exhibitions, hotel rooms are in great demand and the hotel may change its booking policy. You might be required to submit your credit card information to guarantee your room. If you fail to check in on time or at all to your booked number of rooms, charges will be deducted from your credit card according to the individual hotel policy.
4. After making a booking online, how much time is needed before I get a confirmation?
The confirmation period differs among hotels. After we receive your online reservation, we will contact the hotel ASAP. The standard confirmation period is within 24 hours. Hotel confirmation will be sent via email and/or SMS, your preference of which can be selected during the booking process.
5. What should I do if I did not get a confirmation after booking?
The standard confirmation period is within 24 hours. But if you fail to receive the confirmation or have other booking questions, please email web@elong.net or call our booking hotlines at 400-810-1119 (in mainland China)
86-10-58299309 (in other areas around the world).
1. Do I need any special documents to check into an international hotel?
Yes. You will need to present a valid credit card issued to the guest name for guarantee of hotel incidental charges (e.g. phone calls or room service). Debit cards are not acceptable. A valid passport or ID, issued to the guest name on your reservation, is also required for checking in. International hotels usually request identification and proof of citizenship. This can be established by presenting either: 1) a passport, or 2) a driver's license and an original (or a certified copy) of a birth certificate.
2. How do I contact eLong if I have a travel concern while traveling in the two cities?
You can call us at 400-810-1119 (in mainland China) 86-10-58299309 (in other areas around the world). Please keep in mind that regular toll charges will apply for the numbers.
3. I am not based in mainland China. What are the requirements to make travel bookings through eLong?
Make sure you have the correct visa and that your passport is up-to-date. Generally, a passport cannot be used for international travel six months before its expiry date. Since all flight bookings and some hotel bookings are final, we recommend checking your visa and passport status (to ensure they are current/valid) prior to booking on our site. For P.R.C. passport requirements, application forms and other passport and international travel information, visit the China Government site at http://english.gov.cn. For information on Hong Kong, please visit the Hong Kong Immigration Department site at http://www.immd.gov.hk/index.html. For information on Macau, please visit http://www.gov.mo/egi/Portal/index.jsp. All hotels require a valid credit card and some would also require a valid passport or ID and proof of citizenship (passport or birth certificate). The passport or ID and credit card should match the guest name under which the room is booked. Hotels will require a credit card authorization to guarantee payment of any incidental charges you may incur during your stay. The amount of available credit needed will vary by hotel. Incidental charges such as parking, local phone calls, room service, etc. are additional fees payable directly to the hotel during check out. Other hotel charges such as resort fees or convention fees must also be paid upon check out. Once you book a hotel with eLong, we recommend that you contact the hotel directly to ask about additional charges of facilities you intend to use.
